An open water lifesaving event takes place on a dam where lifesaving competitors compete in the respective age groups by swimming, using equipment like rescue tubes and boards to enhance the races. Many of the events are also combined events which include, runs,  swims, boards and other equipment. The event is sanctioned by lifesaving South African. The events are planned to assist our competitors in rescue and fitness practise for the saving of lives.
